Student Executive

The Student Executive Officers are six students who work full-time at the Union for a year. They are here to:

  • Listen to how students want things to be done, and work with Union staff, the Board of Trustees and our partners to make it happen.
  • Represent members to the University, external organisations and the community.

These six students are voted into their roles by their fellow students each year in the annual Student Exec Elections.

The Exec explained

  • LUU members have six Student Executive officers - each with their own role: Activities, Community, Communications & Internal Affairs, Equality and Diversity, Education and Welfare.

  • They are elected by fellow students in an annual vote which takes place during February.

  • Representing the views of students and making sure their voice is heard is the main responsibility of an officer.

  • Employed full-time, they work for one year (maximum two years if re-elected).

  • Any student can stand in the election in any year of their degree.

  • Previous members of the LUU Student Executive have gone on to achieve great success in their field, whether it be education, business or politics - Jack Straw is a former member of the LUU Exec!
