The Results of the Referendum April 2010
Oops - how embarrassing! We apologise for any confusion caused in this week's email newsletter (sent Thursday 29th April). We incorrectly wrote that Motion 1 ‘Should LUU oppose industrial action on campus that negatively impacts on the education of students?’ had passed in the referendum when it actually failed. We are very sorry for our error.

What happens now?
The motions that have passed now become policy of LUU and, where possible, will be effective immediately. They will remain LUU policy for the next three years, ensuring that the votes that you have cast have long lasting change for your Union!
Motion 2 will start a series of exciting new changes in LUU in how we fundamentally engage students and how we make decisions that affect every student at Leeds.
Keep checking back to see how were doing with these motions and the changes were making for you at LUU.
About the Referendum
Any student at the University of Leeds can submit a motion to make change to the Union. It might propose new policy, a different way of representing students, or a change in the way we deliver a service. The proposals should be ideas that will make a change and benefit all students.
What is the Referendum?
The Referendum is your chance to have your say on the big issues at LUU.
All students have the opportunity to vote in the referendum, which takes place twice each year.
Should the Union take more action to be environmentally friendly? Should it lobby the University to make changes that improve your education?
As a body of 30,000 members, LUU has the potential to make a real difference.
