One Collective
One Collective and Honeydrum is a performance-based collective whose focus is to bring people together through drumming, dance and song. We are made up of musicians, dancers and singers who love to perform and share the spirit of creativity. Our aim is to have fun and inspire each other.
DRUMMING
Our weekly classes are held on Wednesdays at The Lounge (opposite Essentials in the Leeds University Union, Lower Ground Floor):
17:00-18:30 Afro-Brazilian Drumming.
Learn West African and Brazilian drum rhythms, songs and dances. These classes are fun and all are welcome to join in- no experience required. All instruments are provided. Come with a mind to unwind, with the opportunity to take part in performances.
£5 members, £6 non-members

18:45-20:00 Flamenco Jam Sessions
An energetic and relaxed slice of Spanish life style mid-week, this jame session invites all to take part in learning and feeling the spirit of gypsy flamenco music, song and dance. Includes home-made Spanish tapas.

DANCE
Weekly dance classes are held at Wrangthorn Church Hall, by One Stop Shop in Hyde Park
19:00-20:30 Elemental Fusions Dance
Learn the choreographies of Afro-Brazilian Orixa folklore fused with contemporary hip hop dance. Geared towards costumed performances with Honeydrum around Yorkshire and Britain, and video projects (check websites for more info).
Classes accompanied by live drumming.

We welcome creative input and along with weekly classes and performances we also enjoy regular socials and new life experiences.
Honeydrum World Music has been involved with One Collective since One Collective’s creation in 2008. Together, we hope to encourage students to get involved and enjoy the benefits of community and creative spirit.
We enjoy collaborations with other societies, and put on regular fundraising events for charity.
