The Brazilian Society offers a variety of activities for anyone interested in Brazilian culture. No need for experience, just come along!
*****DANCE CLASSES*****
*SAMBA*
Taught by our fantastic dance teacher Islay, the Samba class is all about learning the classic Samba moves, steps and shakes that are danced to Samba music and performed in CARNAVALS worldwide. It’s fun, sexy, upbeat and a great form of exercise!!
Whether you’re a beginner or have been Samba-ing since you could walk, we’d love to see you there!
*REGGAETON*
This type of dance you may have seen in music videos such as Daddy Yankee’s "Gasolina", and Shakira’s "Hips Don`t Lie."
Another great way to get fit, Reggaeton is all about shaking it to the beat and moving your hips and chest in circular motions to the music, as well as energetic steps and arm movements- good preparation for dancing to all those Reggaeton tracks played at Carnaval and other Latin nights!
Every Monday at Info Point. (Classes re-strt 25th January 2010)
5 – 6 pm: Beginners Samba
6 – 7 pm: Reggaeton
7 – 8 pm: Intermediate Samba
(Classes re-start 16th January 2010)
Taught by our superb Brazilian Samba teacher and local DJ Silvio. Sessions are at 1pm-4pm every Saturday in Game On in Leeds University Union. No experience necessary, Silvio will teach beginner to advanced. We play every month at the Carnaval at the Faversham when possible, which is an experience not to be missed.

After the success of February Carnaval, we are willing to make March as big as February because in Leeds is always Carnaval time! Make your way to The Faversham on TUSEDAY 2ND MARCH and prepare yourself for an *AMAZING* night of Brazilian and Latin music, live performances and cocktail offers!

After having great comments about our special guest ***RAFAEL DIAS*** he has decided to visit us again and provide a wonderful live performance, but this time he will be bringing along his own ***LIVE BRAZILIAN BAND***! Prepare yourself for some *AMAZING* live music and the best Brazilian beats! The band will start playing at 11pm, so make sure you are there early and you don’t miss it!
Of course, we could not do Carnaval without ***BATUKA BRASIL***! Leeds University Samba Drummers will be bringing the greatest new rhythms for you to dance the night out! It will be a very musical Carnaval, so prepare to dance to the best Brazilian and latin music!
Our infamous trio of Brazilian Djs Fabio Bahia, Silvão and Fernando will be bringing the best Brazilian and Latin tracks to the dance floor! They will be playing the most up-to-date Brazilian and Latin beats including *SAMBA, REGGAETÓN, AXÉ, BAILE FUNK, MERENGUE, FORRÓ* to keep you practicing and showing off your best latino moves!

If you came to February Canrnaval some weeks ago, you might have noticed the amount of people in the venue, so we are asking everyone not to come too late as you may have to queue in the cold outside for a long time, or, as it happened to some people last Carnaval that they were not let in because the venue was already full! So please avoid the queue and turn up early!
