German
German society is for all those students of German and those who just have a general interest in German and German speaking countries. We offer the chance to meet with other German enthusiasts, both from German speaking countries and our own, and to socialise in an informal environment.
Our regular socials include 'Kaffee und Kuchen' held in the department foyer (found in the second floor of the Michael Sadler Building) on Tuesdays from 1-3pm where we enjoy a good chat (in German or otherwise!) over a mug of coffee and cake.
We also have our own 'Stammtisch' which is an informal night for cheap drinks and a chat in a bar, usually heading on to a club afterwards. There are a host of other activities held throughout the year; for more details contact our social secretary.
We are very keen on our sports here at GermSoc! We have two Fußball teams that play in the intra-mural league, one men's team and one mixed team. The training sessions for these Fußball Mannschaften are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-5pm on the Astro turf behind the sports centre. We also have a netball team who train 2-3pm in the sports hall on a Friday, boys are welcome!
